Now I need to make sure that I do this right. I want to get the most out of this experience. I emailed my MD to get his input and his two concerns were my protein intake and daily caloric intake.
“Just as a horse will manufacture all the protein it needs for its strong
musculature from greens, so too will a human.”—Natalia Rose
I sent him a list of veggies that I plan on juicing which have good protein content. I found all this online of course so it is not scientifically backed but I learned a long time ago to not rely solely on science (even though I love science! haha, my favorite class in high school was physics).

I also somehow determined the actual protein in grams that I would ingest but for the life of me can't figure out where my calculation is. If there is a serious concern, it's super easy to supplement with a protein powder of some sort (e.g. soy protein, whey protein, etc.) mixed into a glass of water or even your juice each day. If anyone else finds more information with some numbers please add to this post!
I searched several places for caloric intake and there is a lot of info online. The range seems to be between 800 and 2000 calories a day on a juice fast. Taking an average from what other people report is not enough. You have to know yourself. As a patient advocate, the most important thing I tell fellow patients is that it is crucial to know your body which means paying close attention and learning every day. I know that I: a. LOVE fresh juice and have no qualms drinking lots of it; and b. am doing this to be healthy not lose weight and have ZERO intention of starving myself. Who likes to feel hungry? (cricket, cricket) Precisely. So, I estimate I'll take in about 1500 calories a day on the juice fast.
Let's hope for the green light from the doc!
